St Roch's statue in the chapel.

1- One of my favourite statues and its legend:

St Roc’h was born in the south of France in Montpellier in the XIIIth century. When he was 20 both his parents died. He gave away all his belongings and decided to go to Rome.

On his way to Rome he constantly looked after plague-stricken people. He ended up being contaminated and would have died of hunger and pain but a dog took pity on him , fed him everyday with a piece of bread he had stolen from his home. That’s why St Roc’h is always represented in Breton chapels and churches with his dog which licked his bubo to cure him. Great, great dog and so faithful to St Roc’h :-)

That statue is in my favourite chapel which is not dedicated to Saint Roc’h but to another saint who was martyred because he didn’t want to give up his Christian faith. That was in Rome too but a few centuries before St Roc’h ( 10 centuries in fact!)

2- And here is the chapel whose name I will keep as a secret. It will certainly be recognized by chapels’experts who know how important it is to preserve them.

I wish I were a better photographer with a better camera because there were hundreds of details … to show you.
